my culture contemporary artist

My cultural artists story

her name is Ndidi dike. she graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka ( elite univ. in Nigeria)  with a B.A in fine and applied art. She  is a visual artist working in sculpture and mixed media painting. She is one of Nigeria's leading female artists She has had numerous solo and group exhibitions using different media. She has sections shows an insight into new themes, such as slavery, new works and future exhibitions featuring new paintings.
She reinvented herself in the month of June 2004. The call was of vibrant colors.  Ndidi was propelled to paint with such urgency that it was almost fever pitched.
She heeded the passionate call of my creative instincts.
Some of her paintings are derived from Uli a traditional form of painting specific to the Igbo women from the Southeastern part of Nigeria, who paint on the body and walls of their homes. Uli is a monochromatic from of painting that derives its motifs from the linear configurations that occur in nature.
Other large canvases gave her the freedom to play with abstraction, positive and negative spaces as well as the lyrical and rhythmic (perhaps reminisces from my musical background) movement of my brush washes, strokes, colors, textures and form.

Mixedmedia

MCA

hey people, so we learning about contemporary art in my art class, everyone in my class had question about this topic, well, including me because i am very inquisitive.my teacher wanted us to have a deeper meaning and understanding of contemporary art so she took us  to the museum of contemporary art in chicago. this was a good experience because it wasn't like any museum that we have been to, it was different. small things (art) were big  deal in that museum. through visiting that museum i learnt that little things matter when you put a deeper meaning and thought to it. when you wonder why the artist made the art, what he was trying to communicate and the time period of which the art was made. i really recommend the museum for anyone who is interesting in taking a modern and deeper look at art. for me it was fun and interesting.
